“Patience”

As a football player injuries is a part of the game. Although we do everything we can to prepare ourselves a injury always comes at a bad time. Suffering a bigger injury could mean the end of a season.

In the last pre-season exhibition game I was tackled by the opponents forward and sprained my ankle and tore out the ligaments. So I am walking out to the first game of the season with crutches.
Even though I can’t play I’m still part of the team so I will still sit on the bench and make sure the players do what they need for the team.

Going forward from here for the next couple of weeks I will be doing a lot of ankle rehab, so I can come back stronger than before and help the team to a new championship. Hopefully I my rehab period will be short and I can come back to full training soon.
I just need to fight harder and I take inspiration from Swedens best football player Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He suffered a big injury in 2016 where the doctors thought his career was over. But he wanted differently, Ibrahimovic fought back and is now on of the best players in MLS, on the injury he said: “They said it was over, I said NO”.

  1. You seem so positive about the entire situation! That’s awesome! I bet it’s hard to sit out, but still awesome to be a part of the team! I hope you come back stronger than ever!

  2. Injuries seem so devastating! I recently saw this video on Samantha Cerio who is a gymnast that dislocated both her knees on a bad landing and I can only think about how shes worked hard to get to this point in her life and at the possibility that she may not be able to perform at the same level.

  3. Injuries as an athlete are hard! I was in the semi finals for state tennis a couple years ago and blew out my shoulder as I was serving. I finished the game but couldn’t keep going. It’s hard but I bet being on a team makes it better since you have people to support you.

  4. I’m so sorry about your injury! Don’t forget that healing mentally is just as important as healing physically. It’s great that you are still being a good teammate and supporting your fellow players!
